NAPERVILLE WOMAN'S CLUB PUBLICATION
On October 17, 2007 at 10:30am the Naperville Woman's Club will launch its publication at Barnes & Noble Book Store on Chicago Avenue in Naperville, Illinois. The Naperville Woman's Club has published a book of its Commemorative History. The 132-page book highlights the manner in which local women banned together in 1897. The publication contains over 75 privately held photographs, including costumes worn at the 1893 Chicago World Fair. The efforts of the founders and those subsequent members provide unique insights into the last 110 years of Naperville history.
The research and production of this book took 15 months. Sections of the book include charter members, presidents and the accomplishments of their terms; members who served in the military, GFWC, the history of the clubhouse built in 1899, the chorus and the club's committees.
The Naperville Woman's Club is organized as part of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs and General Federation of Women's Clubs, which has more than 100,000 members in every state and a dozen countries. The publication was initiated as a GFWC special project "Preserving Our Heritage" designed to empower women.
The Naperville Woman's Club is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and sales will benefit Naperville programs in the area of arts and education as well as other area charities.
